Ilog - prebuilt C++ optimization engines

WorldCLASS::APS is an independent software vendor (ISV) based in the U.K. Formed in October 1995 it specialises in providing Advanced Planning & Scheduling systems to companies large and small to assist them to obtain competitive advantage.

WorldCLASS chose to use the ILOG optimisation toolkit, ILOG SOLVER, ILOG SCHEDULER, in their very earliest (1996) contracts; the McDougalls Foods APS system, and their contract to schedule many of British Steel's mills within their overall PPC2 programme to schedule the mills at Stocksbridge, Aldwarke, Thrybergh, Roundswood, Tinsley Park and Midland Service Centre.

Software development completed, WorldCLASS then chose the 1998 C.I.M. show as the venue to launch their WorldCLASS tools into the general marketplace.
These tools were to assist companies attain higher level of operating performance, ‘ultimately leading to World Class status.’

In the PRESS RELEASE of 10 November, 1998 at the N.E.C. According to WorldCLASS’s Director Dr. Stephen Foster ‘this makes the WorldCLASS::SCHEDULER the most powerful finite APS (advanced planning and scheduling) tool available to industry today. It uses the power of ILOG’s constraint based propagation to deliver minimum makespan solutions - that’s minimum manufacturing elapsed time in manufacturing speak - for complex multi-machine problems, within an impressive timescale.
